Russian President Vladimir Putin called the soldiers who are fighting in Ukraine "heroes" at a meeting he had today with a delegation of mothers , on the eve of Mother's Day , which is celebrated in Russia on November 26th .

"For you who have children in the combat zone, Mother's Day is associated with a feeling of anxiety and concern," said the Kremlin number one, as reported by the RIA Novosti agency.

Putin also invited those present not to believe all the "false news, deceptions and lies" spread through the Internet: "There are many 'information attacks' because information is also a weapon of combat".
