The health conditions of Brazilian and world football legend Pele, who was hospitalized for colon surgery three weeks ago in Brazil, are improving.

His daughter Kely Nascimento makes it known: "In the last few days he has taken several steps" he wrote, posting photos of his father who actually smiles and looks relatively fit. "He taught me to play cards and he's beating me", he joked.

After surgery for a suspected colon cancer on September 4, Pele left the intensive care unit at Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo last week. The biopsy result found during routine examinations has not yet been made public. The health conditions of the former champion, who will turn 81 on 23 October, have deteriorated in recent years due to several hospitalizations.

The latest was in 2019 for a severe urinary tract infection, followed by the removal of a kidney stone.
