Six thermal power plants were bombed last night by Russian forces in the Kiev and Kharkiv regions, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. This is despite US President Donald Trump's announcement of a supposed energy truce between Moscow and Kiev.

Two of these facilities, the Darnitskaya and Kievskaya power plants, were hit in the capital, two in the Kiev region itself, and two more in Kharkiv and its region. The Ukrsibbank ATM data center, which handled internet traffic in Kiev, was also hit.

"Russia has never before shown such blatant disrespect towards the United States; it does not take the American president's statements seriously." This was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement on X. Last night's attack was "completely deliberate and demonstrative in its scope, a Russian ballistic missile attack specifically targeted against energy infrastructure, precisely those protected by the ceasefire announced by the US president. Russia squandered the opportunity for de-escalation and clearly chose to continue its insane war of annihilation."
