Prime Minister Boris Johnson has given in and is ready to announce his resignation as leader of the Conservative Party as early as today, according to the British media.

The BBC specifies that a new prime minister should take office "in the autumn" .

Johnson will leave his position as Tory number one today , but will remain in his post on Downing Street until his successor is chosen. Internal elections for a new Tory leader would be called during the summer . The winner or winner could be announced in the coming weeks and - automatically - take over from Johnson as well as head of the British government "in the autumn".

Johnson would have been forced by his followers to accept the agreement in the wake of the backlash of the Partygate , the Pincher scandal (a "praetorian" of his forced to resign for getting drunk in a London gentlemen's club and then molesting two men, including another deputy) and mass resignation in his team.

At 1pm Italian time, 12pm in London, Johnson will speak to the nation . Downing Street announces it.
