Free condoms for young French people between 18 and 25 years old .

Today, President Emmanuel Macron announced the provision that will come into force on January 1, 2023: "Condoms will be free for 18/25 year olds in pharmacies," he said, speaking of a " small revolution in prevention ."

Since 2018 in France, condoms have been reimbursed by public health on medical prescription, but Macron goes further: the gratuity concerns packs of 6, 12 or 24 condoms available in pharmacies.

" The health of young people is an issue to be taken seriously ", he underlined, also referring to the vaccination of adolescents against papilloma virus infections , linked to the appearance of tumors.

«It is a huge information work to be done in schools, we need to multiply our efforts and we will do it. I do not exclude going towards compulsory vaccination when the right scientific recommendations are available ».

Finally, Macron said that " we do not give the best of sex education, we must better solicit our teachers and go back to raising awareness ".
