White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said " no response has yet been received from Hamas " on the proposed ceasefire agreement in Gaza . “We believe that all efforts should be made to convince Hamas to accept the agreement immediately,” added the spokeswoman, quoted by Haaretz.

Yahya Sinwar - leader of Hamas in Gaza - considers the proposed agreement for a truce as "a trap" , reports the Israeli TV Channel 12. According to Sinwar, "the proposal on the table is not an Egyptian proposal, but an Israeli proposal in disguise bare ".

Jean-Pierre reiterates: "We believe that all efforts must be made to convince Hamas to accept the agreement immediately."

According to Israeli sources, the Jewish state was expecting a response from the Palestinian faction on the draft agreement by yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, protests continue at US universities . And after the police raid on the Columbia campus in New York , officers have fired rubber bullets at protesters at the University of Arizona in the last few hours.

The toll is at least 19 people arrested and 15 injured in the clashes.
