The UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon remain under crossfire between Israel and Hezbollah. UNIFIL has announced that another blue helmet, an Indonesian citizen - the fifth in two days - was wounded by gunfire during the night between Friday and Saturday, hit by a bullet of "not yet determined origin" while a military action was underway not far from the general headquarters in Ras al Naqoura. Already on Thursday and Friday, the peacekeepers - 10,000 in total, over a thousand of whom are Italians from the Sassari Brigade - had announced that four of them, Indonesians and Sri Lankans, had been wounded; two of them certainly following an attack by Israeli troops.

And yesterday the commander of the "Dimonios" spoke to Tg1, for the first time since the Israeli offensive also involved the UN blue helmets in Lebanon. General Stefano Messina, who commands the Italian mission, declared that in the area the fighting "knows no pauses" and there have been air, land and even sea actions and that "the Sassari are attentive and concentrated" .

In particular, the Sardinian military is recording and documenting "all violations by forces on both sides, we are the eyes and ears of the international community" , added the senior officer, explaining that the Sardinian military is "here for this". Asked whether Israeli forces deliberately fired on UN forces, the general responded: "I don't feel like ruling it out". However, he added, "my men are fine, they are trained and prepared, we have all the means to face these difficult moments. I - he said - am in constant contact with the Minister of Defense. Our mandate here is for one year and it will continue ".
