A telephone call scheduled for today between German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and US President Donald Trump, ahead of the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, has been postponed by Berlin. The Chancellor's spokesman, Stefan Kornelius, announced this at a press conference.
Kornelius declined to confirm whether the decision was made following Trump's comments about the AfD's victory in Saxony-Anhalt, but said the postponement was not due to scheduling issues.
Trump's enthusiasm reached the European night: "Wow! The populist party in Germany just had a truly momentous night," the president wrote among other posts on Truth. "They're finally fed up with the absolutely disastrous immigration rules and regulations that have so severely damaged Germany. THEY ARE ON THE RISE and they're fed up! MGGA!!!," he concluded, adapting his "Make America Great Again" slogan to "Make Germany Great Again."
