An out-of-control fire front that is bringing California to its knees.

More than 4,000 hectares of forest have gone to ashes in the area of Yosemite National Park, a protected nature reserve.

The fires broke out on Friday at the foot of the Sierra Nevada peaks and the flames fueled by the strong winds are still out of control.

About 6,000 people evacuated and over 400 firefighters engaged, while California Governor Gavin Newsom has proclaimed a state of emergency. They try to save the giant sequoias, the largest trees in the world.

The fire has spread in all directions and is really difficult to control.
