Hawaii's Still Burning . The fury of the fire in the last few hours has shown no signs of abating and devours what it encounters in its path. In Maui, more than 11,000 people have been evacuated, as many are left in the dark, without electricity. The death toll is stuck at 36 . But the numbers, continuously updated, are destined to increase.

This was reported by the director of the archipelago's Department of Transportation, Ed Sniffen, in a statement. Among the most devastated areas, much of the community of Lahaina, in western Maui, where an estimated 12,000 people live. More than 270 public facilities in downtown were affected by the fires, county officials confirmed.

The authorities have urged tourists to leave the area as soon as possible . While the search for the missing does not stop, with three helicopters of the Coast Guard and the United States Navy in flight.
