A twist in the story of George Floyd , the 47-year-old African American who died in 2020 during a police stop in Minneapolis .

Former agent Thomas Lane has in fact changed positions and pleaded guilty to his involvement in the case.

It was his colleague Derek Chauvin who kept his knee pressed to Floyd's neck for about ten minutes, causing his death. Lane helped Chavin stop him , along with two other agents, Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao, for whom the trial is expected to continue in the coming weeks.

Under the agreement between Lane's lawyers and the judge, the former agent will serve three years in prison . Chavin, on the other hand , was sentenced to 22 and a half years .

The story of George Floyd triggered a huge wave of protests in the United States, originating the Black Lives Matter movement, at the forefront to denounce the iron fist adopted by law enforcement in many American cities, especially against the African American community.
