Yesterday, over a thousand people welcomed the boats departing from Spain as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was attempting to "break the Israeli blockade" on Gaza, to the tourist port of Sidi Bou Saïd, just outside Tunis.

Organizers have confirmed that the Tunisian leg will restart on Wednesday, September 10th for technical and coordination reasons. Ships from Barcelona arrived in staggered docks at the Sidi Bou Saïd marina, where they received a warm welcome and public speeches from international activists.

Also in attendance were MEP Rima Hassan and Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who told the crowd: "We all know why we're here. Across the sea, a genocide is underway, a mass starvation caused by Israel's killing machine."

Organizers also report that more than 130 activists of various nationalities have registered to embark from Tunis next Wednesday. Final technical checks on the vessels and organizational procedures for boarding those registered departing from Tunis are still underway. There are currently no official announcements from the Tunisian authorities regarding the local agenda.
