Clashes erupted between migrants this morning in Ceuta's Loma Colmenar neighborhood, following the arrival of hundreds of people of Maghreb origin, who had been camped on the streets for the past few weeks, in a government-set up shelter.

According to police sources, the incident was caused by the mass influx of migrants who jumped the queue of those already waiting to enter.

The police intervened with a large display of force, and officers fired shots into the air to deter the crowd.

Subsequently, the officers intervened to clear the area.
