Emmanuel Macron is expected to appoint a new prime minister “in the next 48 hours.”

Outgoing Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said this to France 2, explaining that "my mission is over," but at the same time "a majority of the National Assembly rejects dissolution, because it sees clearly that a dissolution does not lead (to a solution)."

"There are several groups that are ready to agree on a common budget," Lecornu explained, citing the left in particular.

"I feel like a path is still possible," he concluded. The snap elections in France, therefore, are increasingly distant.
