The lifting of Italian controls at the border with Spain "was agreed yesterday between Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who discussed it on the sidelines of the European Council." Sources from the Spanish delegation reported this, confirming that Italy had, however, announced that controls would be renewed for an additional week.

But "the Interior Ministers will work over the next few days to proceed with their elimination," the same sources specify.
