After two months and two weeks of research, the body of Alberto Fedele was found, the management engineer from Pavia who died last July 4th when he left for an excursion in the Andes.

The young man had decided to take a sabbatical for his thirty years by participating as a volunteer in a cooperation project of the non-profit organization WeWorld in Peru. In July he had taken advantage of a few days off to go trekking in the Cusco area, in the province of Urubamba . He wanted to see the Juchuyccocha lagoon. On July 5 it was a friend who gave the alarm : Alberto, from the excursion to the lagoon, had not returned.

The searches began immediately, made difficult by the snow and the fact that his cell phone was turned off . The searches went on for weeks, constantly followed by Alberto's father, who had flown to Peru. On August 19, a decaying body without clothing was found on an islet in Rio Vilcanota, but the autopsy examination revealed that it was not Alberto.

This time it went differently: the frozen body of a young man "was located at the end of an arduous search on one side of the Juchuyccocha lagoon, in the Chicòn sector of the province of Urubamba" by a team of rescuers. The certainty that it was Alberto came a few hours later. "It is confirmed that it is him - said the president of WeWorld Marco Chiesara - He was recognized thanks to the backpack and clothes". The boy probably "slipped during the excursion".
