Norway has announced the expulsion of 15 Russian intelligence agents who worked at the Moscow embassy in Oslo .

"They have been declared undesirable because their activities are not compatible with their diplomatic status ," Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said in a statement. "This is an important measure to counter and reduce the scope of Russian espionage activities in Norway ," he added. The agents, who were in Norway under diplomatic cover, " will leave the country shortly ," the ministry said.

The Russian embassy in Oslo has not yet commented on the decision taken by the state. Norway's secret services regularly single out Russia and China as the top spy threats to the country.
