The United States is preparing to vaccinate even the smallest children against Covid . The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) group of experts has given the green light to give the vaccine to children aged six months and over .
Two vaccines have been approved for this age group, the only one so far excluded from the anti-Covid vaccination: Moderna, two doses, and Pfizer, three doses.
The trials confirmed the safety and efficacy of the two drugs : even the most common and trivial adverse reactions such as fever and fatigue were found to a lesser extent than in adults.
Moderna provides for the administration of two doses equal to a quarter of those foreseen for adults. Pfizer even by a tenth, but three doses are already planned.
THE NEXT STEPS
After the pronouncement of the experts, the OK of the FDA and the final decision of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Cdc) which will meet on Saturday must arrive, but it is practically obvious. This decision also seems obvious, so as early as next week in the US it will be possible to vaccinate the little ones .
But the real question is, how many will do it? Parents hesitate , even considering the older age group (5-11 years) only 29% have been vaccinated , much below what the health authorities expected.
