Eleven months after taking office, US President Donald Trump defended his performance in an address to the nation, where he reviewed his first months in office and anticipated some of his next political and economic moves.

Trump openly criticized the Biden administration: "Illegal immigrants, transgender people in women's sports, and worse trade deals are a negative legacy. Now you have a president who stands up for Americans," he said, emphasizing the progress on inflation and wages: "Prices are falling rapidly, and wages are rising much faster than inflation."

The president then praised the effectiveness of the tariffs, which he said had stimulated approximately $18 trillion in investment in the United States, and announced a $1,776 Christmas bonus for the military, dubbed the "warrior dividend."

Looking ahead, Trump predicted that in 2025 he will announce a new Federal Reserve chairman, who will favor low interest rates, and that in 2026 he will unveil an “aggressive reform” of the housing market.
