The European Parliament gave the green light with 419 votes in favour, 204 against and 46 abstentions to the text on the “White Paper” on the future of European defence , a document that calls on the EU to act urgently to guarantee its own security, asks that responses to external risks be “similar to those in times of war” and “welcomes the ReArm Europe plan, proposed on 4 March 2025 by the President of the Commission” Ursula von der Leyen.
