Massimo Riella, the 48-year-old escaped four months ago after being granted an escorted exit from the Bassone di Como prison , was captured in Montenegro.

Arrested last December for a robbery against two elderly people, he escaped on March 12 during a permit when he was allowed to visit his mother's grave in the Brenzio cemetery.

For months he had disappeared in the impervious woods of the Como area, which he knew well given his past as a poacher, probably helped by friends and acquaintances. An international arrest warrant had been issued against him.

It was the Interpol international cooperation service that communicated his capture to the Investigative Unit of the Penitentiary Police, which had followed his tracks for some time and which had reported his presence on the Montenegrin territory to the Service for International Police Cooperation (SCIP). Thanks to the detailed investigations carried out by the Lombardy Regional Investigative Unit and coordinated by the Deputy Public Prosecutor of Como Alessandra Bellù, since the end of June the NIC men have maintained direct and constant contact with the international cooperation services , reporting Riella first in Montenegro, then in Serbia and then again in Montenegro.

In the end, the place where the fugitive had found refuge was precisely located , then the blitz of the special departments of the Montenegrin police. The Head of the Penitentiary Administration Department Carlo Renoldi was satisfied: "I expressed my congratulations to the Director of the NIC, Augusto Zaccariello, for the capture of the fugitive, asking him to outsource them to all the staff of the Unit and, in particular, of the Nir of the Lombardia, for the decisive contribution given in the long and complex investigation activity, which once again demonstrates the great professionalism of our staff ".

Now there will be extradition .
