A Russian court in the Sverdlovsk region has sentenced a man to 12 years in prison on charges of providing "financial assistance" to the Ukrainian military in 2022 while in Poland, Tass reported, citing a statement from the regional prosecutor's office that identified the man as Yevgheni Varaksin.
According to the online newspaper MediaZona, the defendant is accused of having donated just 100 zlotys, or just over 23 euros, to the Ukrainian army, and for this he must answer for “high treason”.
The accusations leveled against the man by the Russian authorities – Ansa specifies – cannot be independently verified.
