More than a month after the terrible events in Crans-Montana , Jacques and Jessica Moretti delivered a letter to the employees of “Le Constellation” , the club where 41 people lost their lives on New Year’s Eve.

The owners of the restaurant broke the silence with words of sympathy for the workers: "We consider it our duty to alleviate your pain. We assume this responsibility without trying to shift it onto you in any way ."

"Due to the ongoing investigation," the letter continues, "we have been forced to refrain from expressing the deep sympathy we wished to convey in the immediate aftermath of this tragedy. This silence has been incredibly burdensome and painful ."

"We also mourn those who are no longer with us, with immense sorrow," they wrote in the letter, referring to the three staff members who died in the fire. The Morettis also say they are annoyed by the slander regarding " their alleged escape with the cash register under their arms ."

The letter also responds to accusations from some employees that the Morettis had never paid enough attention to the safety of the venue. "You were our employees, and you still are. We assume this responsibility without in any way trying to shift the blame onto you . We could never have imagined such a tragedy. Since January 1st, we have embodied the misfortune that struck the Constellation."
