Denmark continues its efforts to ensure that younger generations grow up away from addiction to tobacco and cigarettes.
And so the hypothesis of implementing the plan that provides for a ban on the sale of all nicotine-related products for those born after 2010 is becoming more and more concrete.
"Our hope is that they will never start smoking," said Health Minister Magnus Heunicke.
Smoking is the leading cause of cancer in the country, where the age for buying cigarettes or e-cigarettes is currently 18.
The Social Democratic government has also stated that it intends to tackle alcohol consumption among young people. Therefore, the legal age for the purchase of drinks containing less than 16.5% alcohol will also increase, which could be moved from 16 to 18 years.
