Never-ending drama between Nepal and Tibet, where a new landslide occurred in the last few hours, hitting areas already affected by the previous disaster.

Rescue workers involved in operations near the Gyirong crossing have been transferred to a safe location, according to the Chinese Ministry of Emergency Management.

According to the ministry, yesterday evening a monitoring drone detected a landslide approximately 2.8 kilometers downstream from the barrier lake that formed on the Puruoqiang Zangbu River . The landslide created a new natural barrier, resulting in the formation of a new barrier lake.

The Ministry of Emergency Management then quickly summoned experts to analyze and assess the situation and, to ensure the safety of the rescue operations, relocated the personnel working near the Gyirong Crossing to a safe area.

The ministry also explained that it has sent reconnaissance drones and high-capacity drones to continuously monitor the evolution of the barrier lake and assist local authorities in rescue and emergency management operations.

Meanwhile, the provisional death toll from the floods in Nepal has risen to 734 dead and 2,498 missing, according to the Nepalese emergency management authority. Chinese state media also reported 16 dead and 546 missing on their territory, bringing the total number of victims of the disaster to 750 and 3,044 missing . According to the Ministry of Finance, Nepal may require $4-5 billion for reconstruction.

The United States has announced the allocation of $3.6 million in aid.

Massimo Lombardi and Giovanni Fassini, the two hikers from Brescia who were stranded in Nepal, returned to Italy yesterday. Among the missing Italians are Luca Barachini and Patrizia Marziale, a couple living in Lugano.
