The United States and its allies "will respond quickly and decisively" to a Russian aggression on Ukraine.

This was assured by US President Joe Biden during a phone call with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

During the phone call, the Washington chief assured his counterpart the commitment of the United States to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

For his part, Zelensky would have asked Joe Biden to pay a visit to Ukraine and also more military and financial support.

Furthermore, from what is learned, the two leaders agreed "on the importance of continuing to pursue diplomacy and deterrence in response to the military strengthening of Russia on the border with Ukraine.

Yesterday Biden also heard directly from Russian President Vladimir Putin. But after the phone call with the Kremlin leader, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby commented that the interview did not bring "reasons for optimism" with respect to the very high-tension situation on the border between Russia and Ukraine, where - according to repeated alarms launched by the US itself - Moscow's forces would be ready to launch an offensive.
