At least ten Palestinians, including six children, were killed and 16 others injured this morning when Israeli warplanes bombed a water distribution point in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
The victims were taken to Al-Awda Hospital. Among the injured were seven children, some in critical condition. Medical sources confirmed that 27 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the day, 18 of them in Nuseirat alone.
The IDF confirmed the attack but spoke of a "technical malfunction" during the attack on an officer of the Palestinian terrorist group Islamic Jihad.
"This morning, an attack was carried out against an Islamic Jihad terrorist operative in the central Gaza Strip. Due to a technical malfunction with the projectile, it hit tens of meters away from its intended target," the IDF said, according to the Times of Israel. "The incident is under investigation," it added.
