An almost ordinary family photo, taken in an informal setting and far from any trace of royal ceremony, to celebrate 15 years of marriage.

This is what Prince William of England and his wife Kate shared on their social media profiles today and which was released to the media by Kensington Palace.

The image marks the anniversary of April 19, 2011, the date on which William and Kate married in Westminster Abbey in grand style under the eyes of cameras from around the world in what was defined as the second Royal Wedding "of the century" (following the previous, less successful, one between Charles and Diana).

The heir to the throne and his wife appear with their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, all lying on the lawn, smiling and barefoot, with the family dog beside them.

The photo was taken during an Easter break in Cornwall, in the far southwest of England, by renowned photographer Matt Porteous. The shot is accompanied by a heart emoji and the caption, "Celebrating 15 years of marriage." It also evokes hope for a rebirth of sorts, after the difficult period associated with Kate's battle with cancer.
