Nineteen years in prison, two less than those established by the sentence of the Court of Assizes of Cagliari for Giorgio Meneghel, the 54-year-old farmer from Zeddiani who two years ago killed his wife Daniela Cadeddu, 51 years old, originally from Cabras.

The verdict arrived thanks to the agreement between the general prosecutor's office and the defense which, with the lawyer Francesca Accardi, had filed an appeal. Now the judges (by virtue of a recent ruling of the Supreme Court) have recognized the generic mitigating circumstances with respect to the contested aggravating circumstance (the couple bond) and thus the sentence has been discounted which has reduced the sentence from 21 to 19 years in prison . The sentence will become final in a few weeks. The compensation of 40,000 euros to the mother and 20,000 euros each to a brother and sister of the victim, assisted by the lawyer Vito Zotti, was confirmed.

The feminicide occurred at dawn on February 5, 2022. Daniela Cadeddu was sleeping in her room in the house in Via Roma when she was hit with a hammer three times in the head . It was Meneghel himself who called the police claiming to have killed his wife.
