The estimate for the construction of the new Cagliari stadium has more than doubled (from 70 to 157.4 million plus VAT). «So let's talk about it, with the utmost transparency, in the regional council. The actors in the story come and tell us what's going on. Let's listen to the president of Cagliari, Tommaso Giulini, that of the Region, Christian Solinas, and the mayor Paolo Truzzu. That way it will be clearer."

Massimo Zedda has not been at the helm of the city since March 2019. When he resigned, he was convinced that he had left the ground ready for the laying of the first stone of the Cagliari house of the future. Three and a half years later, from the opposition benches of the regional council, he observes a slowly evolving proceeding. The costs, on the other hand, run. And at the expense of the public coffers, in the new financial plan of the company, there are approximately 60 million: 10 from the Municipality and as many as 50 from the Region. Which is braking.

«I haven't seen the papers, but I wonder: is Cagliari taking the concession for 50 years or 90? In the first case, President Giulini, who is an entrepreneur, relies on public money because it would not be part of the costs. But there is the possibility of extending the time. To double them, basically. And in that case», reasons Zedda, « there would be time to get back from the investment. Has the Municipality taken action in this sense? I think the issue is crucial."

The question is open. But for the former mayor there are also other aspects to be clarified: «When we authorized it», he explains, «the boundary of the intervention was the fence of the old Sant'Elia. Now, with the variant, the Municipality has authorized buildings outside. Construction that will cost over 100 million euros. A flood of public money, on which it is necessary to clarify. And the regional council is the appointed office to do it ».
