The "Stick and Puppet" festival, conceived by the Le Compagnie del Cocomero theater association and organized in collaboration with the Il Crogiuolo company, is coming to Quartucciu. Three days—Wednesday, July 16th, Friday, July 18th, and Saturday, July 19th— are filled with fun for families and children, in the Mariposa de Cardu vegetable garden in Su Idanu (entrance from Via Mameli). Three puppet and marionette shows will be performed.
The event kicks off on Wednesday at 7:00 PM with actor Andrea Biondi of the Macerata-based company Tam-Teatro Agricolo, who will perform the puppet show "Sganapino and the Magic Broom," an original comedy created by Biondi himself. On Friday the 18th, also at 7:00 PM, Barcelona-based puppeteer Toni Zafra will present "Frammenti," a puppet show inspired primarily by the bohemian world of the circus, but also by fantasy and variety shows. Poetry and entertainment will alternate.
The festival will conclude on Saturday, at the same time, with actress Valentina Vecchio of the Apulian company Cavalieri Erranti, who will perform a puppet show titled "Fragile." This silent performance will be accompanied only by a little music between acts. The puppets are neutral, with no eyes or mouths, so the puppets can be of any gender, age, or nationality. Participation in the three-day festival is free.
