The seizure of over fifty parrots was just the first step. Now, a couple from Lombardy, who have been living in Ghilarza for a few months, have been placed under house arrest.

The investigation is proceeding in utmost secrecy, although the Carabinieri who showed up at the couple's home on Sunday evening did not go unnoticed in the town of Guilcier. Nothing official has emerged; the charges brought by the Prosecutor's Office point to stalking, threats, and defamation.

The couple, in addition to opening a business that allegedly lacked the necessary permits and having a dozen cages with numerous parrots in their home, allegedly engaged in harassment toward several Ghilarza residents. Various videos (now no longer visible) of the two allegedly harassing other residents circulated on social media. Threats were also reported, leading to the court's order.
