«Your son hit and killed a person with his car. Now he is under arrest and 5,600 euros are needed to pay bail and get him out of prison."

With this ploy - unfortunately increasingly widespread - a 53-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman attempted to deceive an elderly woman, resident in Olmedo.

The two posed as the lawyers of the alleged arrested son and called the woman - a 73-year-old - trying to get money or jewelery from her, in case she didn't have cash with her.

However, when the two showed up at the house of the old woman, who - scared and taken by surprise - had decided to give them about thirty gold jewels, her son came home, the same one who, according to the "plot" fraudulent, she should have been behind bars instead.

At that point the two strangers tried to escape by car, but the man immediately contacted the police. And the military, who intervened promptly, managed to intercept and stop the two scammers, also thanks to the help of a carabiniere on leave who was casually passing through the area.

The 53-year-old and his accomplice, both of Campania origin, were thus arrested, with subsequent transfer to Bancali prison.

The recovered jewels were instead returned to their rightful owner.
