He had chest pain. Twice within a few days she had shown up in the emergency room. First at Santa Barbara in Iglesias: visited and sent home. Then at Brotzu in Cagliari: identical result. But the problem persisted. So the next day she went to her family doctor: she died in his office. The victim was 34 years old, lived in the Iglesiente area. He had a young son and a partner.

It happened in 2013. Today, ten years later, Brotzu has resolved to allocate the sums for compensation after a long dispute that resulted in two proceedings, one criminal and the other civil, started from a complaint from family members (also from the father, from mother and sister): 945,000 euros will go to them. They accepted a settlement, proposed by the judge and formulated by the lawyer Renato Figari, who protected the interests of the health company in the matter.

The appraisals carried out in the civil procedure, which had moved to the area of action of the Court of Auditors, had established that 20% of the responsibility for that death was to be attributed to a possible error by the Santa Barbara doctor and for the remaining 80% % to Brotzu's colleague. For the experts, they should have identified an aortic dissection which, however, was fatal. An evil difficult to identify without specific tests, which killed the young mother.

The accounting line has closed. 160,000 euros will come out of Brotzu's coffers, the rest will be covered by insurance. The same will happen to the Ats in liquidation, which must answer for 20% of the blame attributed. Still standing, according to what is learned, the criminal case. Which could have a different outcome than the one that led to the resolution issued by the top management of the company in Piazzale Ricchi.
