He allegedly intervened to defend a young woman from what he perceived as aggressive behavior by two young men, but shortly thereafter, he himself was targeted. Fear erupted at dawn this morning in the historic center of Oristano, where a Formula Ambiente waste collection worker was attacked and taken to the hospital.

According to initial reconstructions, the worker, who was working as a street sweeper on Via Dritta, noticed two young men who, in his opinion, were abusing a young woman. The man then verbally intervened to warn them and even threatened to call the police. Shortly thereafter, the Carabinieri arrived in the area and identified the two young men.

Once the investigation was concluded, however, the youths reportedly approached the worker again while he was continuing his shift. At that point, the attack began: according to what has emerged so far, one of the two men grabbed a stick from the service vehicle and struck the worker in the head. The worker sustained injuries that required hospital treatment.

The Carabinieri are currently investigating the incident, trying to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident and determine any responsibilities.

The Uil Sardegna and Uil Trasporti Sardegna responded strongly, expressing their "strongest condemnation of the vile and brutal attack" suffered by their client. The unions expressed their support for the worker, reiterating that "no worker should risk their safety while honestly carrying out their work."
