The case of the 26 Cim workers , the industrial assembly company that operates inside the former petrochemical plant of Porto Torres, has ended up on the table of the Prefecture of Sassari .
Mayor Massimo Mulas asked for the intervention of Prefect Grazia La Fauci to find a solution to the dispute .
Three months' wages are missing from the appeal, pay slips that have not been paid to the workers since May, forced, for the seventh time, to return to the gates of the concierge, Mare and Centrale, of the industrial plant. They ask that their right to receive back wages be respected. And this time they are determined to continue the protest to the bitter end.
The hourglass has run out of time, and exasperation has taken over. The solidarity of other Matrìca workers and external companies was not lacking this time either.
The dispute involves the client Eni, which awarded the contract to the Cmci Consortium of which Cim srl is a member, the company whose contract was terminated due to non-payment of wages due to the workers.
Two weeks after the letter sent by the confederal unions Fiom-Cgil and Fsm-Cisl, the requests made to the CMCI Consortium remained without any response. The hope is that the Consortium itself can respond jointly and pay the salaries due.
This morning the mayor asked for the intervention of the prefect La Fauci to untangle the problem. «The proposal that could not be accepted was to pay the full salary, relating to the May month, to only a part of the workers - explains Gianni Crobeddu, Fiom-Cgil delegate - leaving out 7 units who would have received 50% hundred of the salary due, conditions which we believe are absolutely unacceptable".
Negotiations are underway and while waiting to reach an agreement, the prefect has started discussions with all interested parties . «We asked you to work to organize a meeting between the parties», said Mulas «it is essential to resolve the situation in the industrial area as soon as possible so that the fathers of families who work in the company are not left further without a salary and without a acceptable future employment certainty".
Outside the central reception the unions met Davide Demelas, head of personnel at Matrìca, and Andrea Tomasino, director of the Eni power plant , who reassured them of their commitment to urging the owners of the Cmci Consortium to put an end to this agony .
