The main phase of construction work on the new Macomer-Mulargia junction on state road 131 “Carlo Felice” will begin on Wednesday 22 October.

To allow for the work, Anas announced, the lane of the roadway heading towards Sassari will be closed to traffic between km 148.250 and km 148.750. Furthermore, traffic heading towards Sassari will be prohibited from turning from state road 131 onto state road 129 bis towards Bosa and Macomer. At the same time, traffic coming from state road 129 bis will be prohibited from turning towards Sassari onto state road 131. All other maneuvers remain in place.

The alternative route is as follows:

  • for vehicles travelling along state road 131 coming from Cagliari and heading to Macomer-Bosa via state road 129 bis, access will be guaranteed by reversing at the Campeda junction (km 152.070);
  • For vehicles coming from Macomer-Bosa via state road 129 bis and which need to take state road 131 towards Sassari, it will be possible to turn around at the Nuoro-Birori junction (km 142,150).

The measure is necessary to allow for the demolition of the rock embankment on the right edge of the roadway, permitting the subsequent construction of the exit ramp towards Sassari.

The project, worth approximately ten million euros, is part of a broader plan to eliminate at-grade junctions on Sardinia's main artery, which has already included the construction of the new north and south junctions at Bonorva and the Paulilatino junction.

The completion of the interchange work is expected by summer 2026.
