Following the collapse of the roof of a house last Monday in the area behind Via Roma, a new episode has brought attention to the state of decay of several buildings in the historic centre of Nuoro .
Last night , a portion of the wall of a house in Via Sassari , a few dozen metres from Via Grazia Deledda , collapsed.
The building is no stranger to episodes of distress: it had been suffering from structural failure for some time and is still awaiting completion of the authorization process required to begin renovation work.
Yet another incident that fails to occur after heavy rains confirms a fragile situation affecting numerous buildings in the city center , with consequences not only for safety but also for the liveability of the historic neighborhoods.
This incident draws attention to another unresolved issue that has plagued the Santu Predu neighborhood for years . It concerns the so-called "Casa Fadda," a municipal property that continues to cause serious inconvenience to residents due to the closure of the affected road to traffic due to the presence of elements deemed unsafe. This situation has been going on for nearly three years now, fueling discontent among residents and local business owners.
"The mayor issues ordinances against private individuals when dangerous situations are detected, but in the case of a municipal property, the municipality continues to fail to intervene," observe some residents of the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, traffic restrictions continue to affect one neighborhood , while recent collapses in the historic center forcefully bring to the fore the issue of maintenance and safety of the city's building heritage.
