The goal would be to produce, by 2030, 7.45 GW of energy from renewable sources more than in 1990. In Sardinia there are requests for the installation of solar and wind plants, both on land and offshore, as well as Gigawatts would generate over 56.77. An enormous amount even compared to the Fit for 55% target set by the European Union in its regulatory package for the climate and energy transition .

An assault, therefore, what emerges from the data made available by Terna in its Econnextion map, which reports «the monitoring of requests for connection to the grid for renewable plants», considered «fundamental for identifying trends and areas of greater concentration of plants and then plan, accordingly, the development of the infrastructures and all the instruments necessary to achieve the ambitious international targets».

In absolute terms, the island, with its (not even) 1.6 million inhabitants, is the third region for the number of connection applications filed (second if we are talking about wind power). In the lead is the much more populous Puglia (over 4 million registered in the registry office), followed by Sicily (5 million). But if the parameter is the inhabitants, the island is the land with the most requests.

For Sardinia, 650 renewable plant activation practices are filed in Terna's offices (and the data is updated to 31 March, the last quarter is still missing): 406 are for solar, 208 for onshore wind and as many as 36 for fields of wind towers at sea. In all, there would be 2,331 blades, all large, even higher than 250 meters. One for every 680 inhabitants.

For comparison: in Puglia there are 383 requests for wind power, but the population is well over double. Another data, to understand. There are 4,674 instances throughout Italy. Of these, 2,809 are in Sardinia, Puglia and Sicily. In Lombardy there are a total of 19, all for solar. There is no wind there, but the demand for energy is great. Will it come (only) from the south and the islands?

«The applicants are private companies which, by virtue of the Draghi decree, want to take possession by appealing to an alleged right of "public utility". In fact, it is a question of taking over private property for the purpose of personal profit without the owner being able to oppose»: this, faced with the data, is the position of the committee "Su Entu Nostu, which formed itself against wind power in the Middle Campidano, «a theft legalized with the endorsement of the State. Finally, it must be said that over 90% of the requests for these plants are located in the south. In short, the environment and tourism are a deal that only the north can afford».
