A firm "no" to the project proposal for a new wind farm in compliance with the protection of the landscape, environmental and historical values of the area .

This is what the Municipality of Solarussa ordered in the municipal council convened to discuss the project presented by the company Sorgenia Renewable srl of Milan .

Solarussa's position comes two days after the meeting on the subject with the mayors of Seneghe, Narbolia, San Vero Milis, Zeddiani and Siamaggiore , from whom similar indications are expected in the near future.

The civic assembly repeatedly stressed the clear opposition to the project proposal , while sharing the need to accelerate the transition process from fossil fuels to renewable sources, an objective to be achieved however through the participation and active involvement of the communities and others, as in specific case, «through impositions and projects that are lowered from above without the slightest consultation and involvement of the local communities».

DOUBLE PROJECT – Going into specifics, Mayor Mario Tendas highlighted that no installation of wind turbines is planned in the municipality of Solarussa. However, the municipal area is involved in two wind projects, both presented by the Sorgenia Renewable srl company .

The first project involves the installation of nine wind turbines (125 meters high and with a rotor diameter of 170 meters) in the municipalities of Seneghe and Narbolia. The energy produced by the nine wind turbines should then be fed into the National Transmission Grid passing through the municipalities of San Vero Milis, Zeddiani, Siamaggiore and, finally, right at Solarussa where an accumulation point should be located and built.

A very similar project, with the installation of another nine wind turbines , also proposed by the Sorgenia Renewable srl company, is planned in the municipalities of Paulilatino and Bauladu . Also in this case the energy produced should be fed into the grid passing through Tramatza and arriving at the storage center located in the municipality of Solarussa. In practice, the municipality is directly involved in both projects.

"This situation is creating quite a few inconveniences for the municipal offices" said the mayor, highlighting that "since the beginning of the year, between wind and agro-voltaic projects, as many as 11 communications have been received for the start of environmental impact assessment procedures (VIA)". A figure that highlights the situation of chaos that we are experiencing .

«As it is easy to understand this situation, disorganized and messed up, is creating quite a few inconveniences to the municipal technical offices which find themselves, every day, having to satisfy the most disparate requests from numerous companies which request, at a frenetic pace, certificates of urban destination , any constraints and information documents of all kinds, enormously slowing down all ordinary activities », the clarification.

"The current energy policies - reads the agenda approved by the municipal council - if not traced back to a well-defined planning framework risk irreversibly compromising the territory, with huge soil consumption and incalculable environmental and landscape damage ".

THE REQUESTS - The municipality of Solarussa, with an articulated agenda of no less than 9 pages, requests, first of all, the suspension of the environmental impact assessment procedures to try to restore order to a chaotic and confusing situation, at the same time asking the National Government but also to the regional government the adoption of a strategic plan, within which the planning of the territory and the energy plan are functional to the real needs and respond concretely to the criteria of sustainability, environmental and landscape protection, protection of communities, health and the environment.

Through the agenda, the municipality also makes a " formal request for a different energy policy, no longer related to a real "deregulation" that leaves room and opportunity for clear and evident speculation phenomena but for the promotion of both a social of the local community through the involvement of citizens and the establishment of CERs (Renewable Energy Communities) capable of realizing real economic and energy savings and a positive socio-economic and environmental impact on the territory".

The municipality, through a joint and unitary action with the other administrations involved in the project, has therefore highlighted the need to strengthen efforts, to actively involve citizens, associations, category organizations, trade union and social organizations , so that common front and try to remedy a situation that risks irreversibly compromising the territory, the landscape and the local environment.
