The wave of bad weather that will hit the island in the next few days, with rainfall that is expected to be very intense (up to a downpour), also falls within the observation cone of the Civil Protection of Sardinia.
Unusually, the bulletin of the decentralized functional center of via Biasi in Cagliari went out on a limb with many hours of warning and indicated an orange alert in sight for the eastern sectors of Sardinia, where it is assumed that up to 100 millimeters of rain could fall in the space of a day. The phenomena will be caused by a Mediterranean cyclone.
According to IlMeteo.it "over the weekend the cyclone will impact Italy. It will rain persistently in particular on Sardinia, Sicily, Calabria and then also in Campania, Abruzzo, Molise and Lazio. In addition to the rains that could also result in floods on the major islands, the winds will strengthen on the southern basins where storms from the Sirocco and Levante are expected with gusts of up to 100 km/h and consequent storm surges on the exposed coasts".
While on the one hand this is good news, given that those are the areas most affected by drought, on the other hand there are fears that the excess rainfall could have serious repercussions on the hydrogeological level.
Temperatures will rise during those days, due to the irruption of strong sirocco winds. For tomorrow, Thursday, however, frost is expected in the early hours of the day.
