Ecological islands with batteries of bins for the separate collection of glass, plastic, paper and waste have been set up in the Quartu stretch of Poetto and on some beaches along the coast .

Like last year, to ensure greater decorum along the promenade, the trash bins are made of wood and topped with a sort of umbrella-shaped wooden roof . They are emptied daily, along with those along the promenade in areas where there are no redevelopment projects. And starting in June, to try to prevent littering on the beach, a beach trash van has also arrived. This is a recycling center that will be moved from time to time to where it is deemed most useful.

Poetto Beach attracts thousands of people during the summer, resulting in a large amount of garbage , with many throwing leftovers from lunches and snacks onto the sand. This is often accompanied by broken umbrellas and chairs, which are left at the foot of the recycling centers.

The ecomobile will be available every afternoon, Monday through Saturday, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, throughout the season. This will also contribute to raising awareness, preventing bags from being found on the ground or in wastebaskets, and also to avoiding fines. Meanwhile, the daily beach cleaning continues with beach cleaners. The vehicles also stir the sand to remove any glass shards or syringes that may have been discarded. A small tractor capable of navigating the inlets is also used along the coast.
