Villasimius, with a harpoon in the Marine Protected Area: heavy fine for a tourist
The man complained about the lack of information signs. The mayor: «Precise rules to be respected»The checks inside the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara against spear fishing (an activity which is prohibited) continue : on Sunday another tourist was fined – the sixth in a few months – after being caught red-handed while wandering around with a particular (and dangerous) spear gun in the waters of La Fortezza Vecchia .
The tourist, originally from Slovenia, was fined 344 euros and his equipment was confiscated . The local police officers of Villasimius led by Commander Pier Luigi Casu took action.
After the fine , the tourist complained about the lack of information signs . Signs that, as explained by the mayor of Villasimius Gianluca Dessì «are there, but let's keep in mind that we have forty kilometers of beaches, it is not conceivable to place them every hundred meters. The frequenters of Villasimius know that within the Marine Protected Area there are very specific rules to respect».
In any case, "we will also implement information signs."
