Villanova Monteleone celebrates Raimondo Piras

It was May 21, 1978 when the great improvising poet of Villanova Monteleone Raimondo Piras died. His is a figure who wrote unforgettable pages of Sardinian improvisational poetry: there are many competitions in which he took part, in every corner of Sardinia: from Logudoro to Sulcis, from Baronia to Barbagia, leaving an indelible memory in enthusiasts thanks also to his great poetic vein.
Throughout his career, tziu Remundu has had the opportunity to deal with other greats of improvised poetry: from Antoni Cubeddu to Barore Tuccone, from Peppe Sozu and Marieddu Masala, just to name a few.
To celebrate the 45th anniversary of his death, which took place a few days after his last competition in Montresta with Peppe Sozu, his hometown has decided to dedicate the show to him entitled "Improvisa una Antiga Poesia. Vita e action di Raimondo Piras".
The show of words, music and images is conceived, written and directed by the musician Andrea Congia, Artistic Director of the Cultural Association "Tra Parola e Musica - Casa di Suoni e Racconti", will be held on Tuesday 4 July at 9 pm and will see the participation of improvising poets Dionigi Bitti and Giuseppe Porcu, accompanied by the Tenor Murales of Orgosolo. The images that will accompany the show will be by Salvatore Ligios.
