The photographic exhibition " Masks of Sardinia ", set up inside the premises of the Archaeological Museum of Viddalba, will be open from today until Thursday 23 February .

The protagonist of the set up is the mask in its variants of the Sardinian Carnival .

«It is a photographic exhibition of what are the main masks - the Museum explains - and then we took the ball because, in the archaeological museum of Viddalba, there are two amulets, one Punic and one Roman , which in some so are the figures of masks that are surprisingly similar to those of the Mamuthones, which date back to the third century BC. The opportunity to propose this exhibition was also the possibility of using two exhibits from the museum to talk about the subject. And as if to say that the habit of masking oneself is not a modern or ethnographic thing, but one that has its roots in the most remote history. For the occasion, the copy of the famous masked hero who comes from Teti was also exhibited ». Visiting hours will be from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 15 to 18 . The visit is free .

Meanwhile, in recent days, the museum has hosted the pupils and teachers of the primary school of Trinità d'Agultu . «For the children it was a stimulating opportunity to discover the history of the Museum and to have a unique experience through the manipulation of materials inspired by prehistory, trying to understand their use», they conclude from the museum.
