A 48-year-old man from Valledoria was sentenced to eight months without a suspended sentence. Judge Valentina Nuvoli ruled this yesterday in court in Sassari. The man was caught last December by the Carabinieri with approximately 300 grams of marijuana, discovered in his home along with precision scales and some food wrapper believed to be used to package the doses.
The officers became suspicious after noticing constant comings and goings at the defendant's home, where he had several criminal records. Arrested on drug dealing charges, the man denied the charges, claiming he was using cannabinoids for personal purposes, partly because he was going through a difficult family situation. The man, represented by the lawyer Raffaele Rocco, was later ordered to pay a €1,600 fine. The prosecutor was Angelo Beccu.
