Sprint in the vaccination campaign also on the island, with a boom in bookings linked to the extension of the Green pass obligation also to public and private workplaces. And it is a great success for the vaccination open day (without reservation) organized on Saturday in Piazza Garibaldi in Cagliari, with 650 administrations carried out.

"Almost all first doses, many in the 40-59 year range, which on the island is more recalcitrant than elsewhere", explains Gabriele Mereu, head of the Epidemiology, Prophylaxis and Vaccines sector of the Regional Health Protection Company.

The reservations went “better than we had anticipated - continues Mereu - and we were also optimistic: in Piazza Garibaldi there were a thousand people, including vaccinators and carers.

There are also many foreigners, especially “Africans and Filipinos”.

Almost all of the 650 who received the immunization went to Piazza Garibaldi to ask for the first dose: "Many fifty-year-olds were taken to the open day by their teenage children, who in Sardinia are the main sponsors of the vaccination campaign".

GO TO THE THIRD DOSES - In the meantime, from today on to the third doses, even on the island, for the most fragile subjects. Immunocompromised people, transplant recipients and cancer patients with certain specificities will receive the vaccine: ten categories of recipients of this additional dose.

The vaccines are those with mRna: Pfizer and Moderna. Then the "booster" doses will come for those who, after some time or perhaps because of the variants, need reinforcement in the face of the drop in immune coverage such as over-80s, residents of the RSA and healthcare professionals, to be administered months after last dose.
