Moments of ordinary madness inside the Uta prison in Cagliari, where a prisoner under psychiatric observation destroyed three security rooms, disabled the bathrooms, flooded the corridor and threw sewage at the agents.

«In Sardinia – thunders the general secretary of the UilPa penitentiary police Michele Cireddu – an extraordinary commissioner is needed for the prison emergency, now not a day goes by without very serious events taking place. In addition to sending prisoners who have set fire to the prison sections in the peninsula, the department continues to send prisoners for psychiatric observation, despite the fact that the Institute's clinical center is full. Consequently, these prisoners must be placed in the ordinary sections and, in cases where they go into a rage and commit some serious act, they begin the tour of the rooms in the Institute where they destroy everything».

All of this, continues the trade unionist, «exposes the staff to serious risks for their own safety. If the damage caused by these prisoners were repaid by the parliamentarians who should legislate and intervene to assign them to suitable sanitary places, a prison plan would certainly have been issued immediately, also loudly requested by our national secretary ».
