A total budget of 85 million euros available, from the Pnrr , for the University of Cagliari .

An important funding that has already led to the appointment , in the University, of 22 contacts and principal investigators of related projects.

In detail, the Miur has identified four macro areas for project development : National Centres, Extended Partnerships, Innovation Ecosystem and Research Infrastructures.

For the national centres , noteworthy are the projects "Sustainable mobility" by Italo Meloni and "Development of gene therapy and drugs with RNA technology" by Raffaella Origa.

For the Extended Partnerships Fabrizio Pilo follows "Energy scenarios of the future", Battista Grosso and Antonio Funedda "Environmental, natural and anthropic risks", Andrea Perra takes care of "Diagnostics and innovative therapies in precision medicine", Giorgio Giacinto works on "Cybersecurity, new technologies and protection of rights”, Stefano Usai deals with “Economic-financial sustainability of systems and territories” and Enzo Tramontano is working on “Emerging infectious diseases”.

In the field of innovation ecosystem , the delegates of the University of Cagliari are Gianni Fenu for "Digital transformation", Fabrizio Pilo for "Low carbon technologies for efficient synergy systems", Alessandra Carucci for "Environment protection and valorisation". Principal investigator Gianfranco Fancello (Sogaer) with "Sustainable mobility", Sabrina Giglio (Cybertech) for "BioFarmacology", Antonello Pani (Uniss) on "A new route to preventive medicine: genomics, digital innovation and telemedicine", Ivan Etzo (Uniss) for "Innovation and sustainability for the competitiveness of tourism and cultural heritage Smes in marginal markets", Giuseppe Mazzarella (Uniss) on "Aerospace science and technology", Giuseppe Melis (Izs - Epr) with "Appàre: smart and secure livestock farm Applications to boost data-driven innovation along the food chain - AgriVet” and Riccardo De Lisa (Cciaa Sassari) for “Finance and credit for the society's digital transiting”.

On the subject of research infrastructures involved Fabrizio Pilo, Piero Addis in the project "Unlocking the potential for health and food from the seas", Gianluca Usai for "Einstein telescope infrastructure consortium", Roberto Deidda with "GeoSciences - Italian network for geosciences" and Sofia Cosentino for "Strengthening the Mirri italian research infrastructure for sustainable bioscience and bioeconomy".
