Resources allocated to Sardinian universities are growing. For 2025, the Ordinary Financing Fund has allocated a total of €201,018,161, representing the main channel of public support for Italian universities. The fund is the instrument through which the resources necessary to cover university operating expenses and staff are allocated.
Minister Anna Maria Bernini signed the decree distributing the Fund. For Sardinian universities, there is an increase of approximately €2 million compared to 2024, or 14.9% compared to the €174,955,488 allocated in 2019. Specifically, the University of Cagliari has been allocated €125,173,041 , while the resources for the University of Sassari amount to €75,845,120 .
The increase in funding for Sardinian universities is part of a general growth in resources allocated to universities across Italy. This year, the Ordinary Fund amounts to €9.4 billion, an increase of €336 million compared to 2024. "A country that believes in the future invests in universities and research, because this is the path to growth. And the Ordinary Fund allocated to all our universities is the cornerstone of this process," the minister commented. "This year, the Fund's allocation has increased by €336 million compared to 2024, reaching a total of €9.4 billion. We can be proud of a path that upholds its priorities: developing young people, attracting talent, and embracing the challenges of a rapidly changing world. We have the ambition to play a leading role: because if we grow our universities, Italy grows."
